Studio Art Lessons
CAAD art lessons are for students of all ages interested in developing a foundational fine arts skillset that will aid their personal creative expression. Our instructors guide and mentor art students in subjects like figure drawing, oil painting, sculpture, and more. Read our class descriptions below. What does it cost?
Art lessons are 2 hours in length and $60 each. A minimum purchase of four ($240) is required. Purchased classes never expire, and can be redeemed on your schedule.

CAAD for Kids
Children under the age of 12 have the opportunity to express themselves creatively and develop essential skills in fine arts at Cornerstone Academy of Art and Design. Children's programs are available throughout the school year, in addition to our summer camp.
What does it cost?
Children's art lessons are 1 hour in length and $30 each. A minimum purchase of four ($120) is required. Purchased classes never expire, and can be redeemed on your student’s schedule.

Academic Art Courses
We are currently in the process of applying with the College Board to offer Advanced Placement (AP™) and pre-AP™ art courses for high school students. Students gain the opportunity to build an art portfolio in a studio environment. AP™ Art and Design Portfolios are submitted for review by the College Board and scored on a 1 to 5 Scale. Many colleges and universities accept AP™ course credit as collegiate credit if the student’s AP™ test score meets the individual college or university's minimum score for credit. This score varies by institution.

Art Class Descriptions
Drawing Fundamentals
These lessons will begin by breaking down, in detail, the different elements of drawing and how they come together to create the illusion of form. You will learn about the value scale and how to manipulate it to create different effects in your art. The various types of edges, lines, textures, and space. You will then put all the principles and concepts into practice with step-by-step exercises. This course was designed for the beginner who has always wanted to learn how to draw anything accurately.
2D Studio and Fundamentals
An introduction to two-dimensional design used to provide a formal structure for the study of visual images. Students will learn the use of visual elements (line, shape form, texture, value, color, pattern) and principles (composition, unity, variety, emphasis, contrast, rhythm, motion, etc.) using a variety of media.
Intro to Oil Painting
In these lessons students will learn the foundations of producing a piece of art with oil paint. Starting with learning the various types of canvas, oils, mediums, brushes and the oil paint itself. From there, the student will learn color theory, color mixing and brush handling. They will also learn various techniques such as glazing, scumbling and painting "alla prima" or wet-on-wet.
3D Art and Sculpture
In this introductory course, students will become familiar with and learn how to use the elements of visual design, a variety of materials, processes and techniques. Ceramics and sculpture are explored, as well as found materials, and materials in nature. Students should anticipate a studio-based art class which may include creative problem solving, production of artwork, critiques, self-evaluation, readings, some note taking, and overall evaluation of their work. Also introduced in the class are historical and contemporary trends in art, which are explored through visual examples.
Digital Art, Graphic Design, & Digital Photography
This course is perfect for students interested in digital media design and graphic design careers. Focusing on software like Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, and Adobe Illustrator, students will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools while learning essential design principles such as typography, color theory, composition, and branding. In addition to technical skills, students will develop creative problem-solving abilities, learning to communicate ideas visually through effective design. The course prepares students for careers in graphic design, advertising, marketing, web design, and more, offering a strong portfolio and a solid understanding of the visual communication process.
